2 Kings 4:1-7
West Jordan, UT
November 2023
Zentangle-style drawing.
2.5" x 3.5" Artist Trading Card, Nemosine Solar Storm 1859 ink in Pilot Prera fountain pen, with a Penmanship extra-fine nib.

This drawing was done after InesF on the Fountain Pen Network presented us with an amphora-inspired invitation.  My mind went immediately to two Old Testament stories involving jars or vessels - the story about the widow filling many vessels from a single pot of oil inspired this drawing.  I considered trying to draw oil flowing from the top jar into all the others, but didn't like the look.  Turns out I find the completed work too "busy" and should have left either the background or the jars blank, or used another color for one.  Regardless, here it is. :)

November 2023
Zentangle-style drawing.
2.5" x 3.5" Artist Trading Card, Pilot Mixable Colour Black, Robert Oster Gold Antiqua (flour / meal, oil, sticks at the bottom), Diplomat Pine Tree (alternating line pattern) inks in Pilot Kaküno EF (Gold Antiqua) and Pilot Prera fountain pen, with a Penmanship extra-fine nib.

This drawing was done after InesF on the Fountain Pen Network presented us with an amphora-inspired invitation.  My mind went immediately to two Old Testament stories involving jars or vessels - the story about the widow who fed Elijah first and whose meal and oil didn't run out until the drought ended inspired this drawing.  I didn't know how to draw them not running out, so I drew them overflowing.  The circles and swirls under the vessels are meant to represent a stack of sticks, looking at the end grain.  The alternating lines in the background are just to fill in the space, they have no particular meaning.

There Will Be Ice

There Will Be Ice
West Jordan, UT
January 2024
Zentangle-style drawing.
2.5" x 3.5" Artist Trading Card, Pilot Mixable Colour Turquoise, diluted to about 1 part water to 3 parts ink, in a Pilot Kakuno, EF.

This drawing was done after InesF on the Fountain Pen Network presented us with the prompt "There Will Be Ice".  I decided to go the literal route and draw an ice cube tray.

*If you're so young that you don't know what an ice cube tray is, get off my lawn! ;)
